How does measuring conductivity affect industrial washing efficiency? Innovative cleaning solutions for the automotive industry

Today's automotive industry is constantly looking for solutions to maximise efficiency and save resources. Our cooperation with EKO-PIL - a renowned manufacturer of industrial washers - has resulted in the implementation of a continuous, precise measurement of the degree of contamination of the baths of the innovative PMPPSCH 200T washer, which combines energy and water efficiency with the highest cleaning quality.

Why does washing after electrochemical treatment require conductivity measurement? Washing process in industrial washer

The PMPPSCH 200T washer has been designed for accurate and reproducible washing of parts after electrochemical treatment. The process is carried out in multiple stages, guaranteeing high cleaning quality while minimising energy and water consumption:

  • Blowing the brine off the workpiece using a closed-circuit fan.
  • Washing in hot water with detergent - measuring the conductivity controls the salt concentration, ensuring optimum cleaning conditions.
  • Hot rinse 1 - measurement of conductivity ensures no salt residue.
  • Hot rinse 2 - conductivity measurement of corrosion inhibitor concentration to provide short-term corrosion protection.
  • Low-temperature drying (maximum 70°C) with heat recovery.
  • Cooling with heat recovery, which further optimises energy consumption.

How does a closed energy circuit in an industrial washer reduce operating costs?

A key aspect of energy saving in the PMPPSCH 200T washer is the closed energy cycle. The use of a heat pump allows heat energy to be recovered from the drying and evaporation processes and then transferred to the wash tanks. This process significantly reduces operating costs and minimises the environmental footprint.

Why is maintaining a low salinity level crucial to wash quality? Automatic bath quality monitoring using a liquid analyser and PID controller

The suitability of the washing bath for continuous washing is automatically monitored in the bath by the Jumo Aquis Touch S transmitter measuring the bath's conductivity. The conductivity measurement took place in the wash bath to measure the salinity level and keep it below critical.

The Jumo Aquis Touch S communicates with the master controller via Modbus TCP/IP, enabling automatic adjustment of process parameters. A convenient interface on the operator panel allows easy management of all system functions.

Advantages of the Jumo Aquis Touch S:

  • Precise parameter monitoring - guarantees accurate conductivity measurement, regardless of process conditions.
  • Intuitive operation - the operator panel with its simple interface enables quick configuration and process monitoring.
  • Network communication - Ethernet, RS422/RS485 with Modbus protocol, Profibus DP, Profinet.
  • Automatic response to changes - the system adjusts cleaning parameters in real time, minimising the risk of errors.

How to choose the right conductivity sensor for washing systems?

The PMPPSCH 200T washer uses the JUMO BlackLine CR-EC conductivity sensor in a 2-electrode design. The main advantages are:

  • High measurement precision - provides accurate control of salt and corrosion inhibitor concentrations.
  • Resistance to industrial conditions - the electrode is made of durable materials, ensuring a long service life under harsh process conditions.
  • Reliability and stability - ideal for applications requiring continuous monitoring of parameters in industrial processes.

How does a closed water circuit in an industrial washer protect the environment?

The PMPPSCH 200T washer is not only highly efficient in cleaning, but also environmentally friendly. Thanks to the use of a closed water circuit, fine filtration and heat recovery, the unit allows a significant reduction in resource consumption.
