How do pressure transmitters for refrigeration increase energy efficiency? Case study

Precise pressure control is the key to reliability and energy efficiency of refrigeration systems – especially in demanding laboratory applications. In this case study, we show how a properly selected pressure transmitter can minimize the risk of failure, extend equipment life and optimize energy consumption. You will learn what challenges our client faced, what customized solution we proposed, and what real benefits were achieved. If you are looking for proven methods to increase the efficiency of refrigeration systems, we invite you to read on!

How does precise pressure control minimize the risk of failure in refrigeration systems?

In laboratories, precise control of operating conditions is crucial for the reliability of test results and equipment. Refrigeration systems play an important role in this process, and accurate pressure measurement is one of the foundations of their effective operation. It enables stable operating parameters to be maintained, prevents compressor overload and minimizes the risk of failure. What's more, precise pressure control optimizes energy consumption, which is particularly important in the context of increasing energy efficiency requirements. Challenges such as extreme temperatures, pressure surges and vibrations mean that standard solutions do not always meet expectations, which is why it is so important to use sensors adapted to the specific requirements of refrigeration systems.

How can pressure be measured precisely in the harsh working environment of refrigeration systems? The customer's challenge

A customer from the laboratory industry, which produces advanced equipment, was developing a new generation of refrigeration systems designed with sustainability in mind. The goal was to create solutions that are more energy-efficient, reliable and adapted to the rigorous standards of work in modern laboratories. As the project progressed, however, a challenge emerged - to ensure precise and stable pressure measurement in conditions that proved too demanding for standard sensors.

The customer needed a sensor that would guarantee reliability in an environment exposed to extreme temperatures, pressure fluctuations and strong vibrations generated by operating compressors. It was also important to protect the sensor from pressure surges and sudden temperature changes that could affect the accuracy of measurements and the durability of the device. An additional challenge was the need to adapt the solution to the compact design of laboratory systems, where limited installation space made it difficult to integrate standard transducers.

How can the impact of vibrations on precise pressure measurement in refrigeration systems be reduced? Our solution

To meet the customer's requirements, we proposed a solution based on the JUMO MIDAS H20 HP pressure transmitter, which has been specially adapted to work in the harsh conditions of laboratory equipment refrigeration systems. This compact device is characterized by high resistance to pressure surges, extreme temperatures and vibrations, which makes it an ideal choice for applications requiring reliability and precision.

The key element of the sensor's customization was the use of a copper extension tube, which served several important functions. Firstly, it provided thermal insulation, protecting the sensitive elements of the transducer from the direct effects of high and low temperatures, which increased the durability and stability of the readings. Secondly, the tube acted as a pressure pulsation damper, reducing the impact of sudden spikes and fluctuations that could interfere with the accuracy of the measurements. In addition, this design reduced the impact of vibrations, which was particularly important in refrigeration systems with intensively operating compressors.

In addition to the standard features of the JUMO MIDAS H20 HP, the transmitter was customized to meet the specific requirements of the customer. We adjusted the pressure measuring ranges, selected the appropriate types of connectors, and optimized the design for installation in the limited space of laboratory equipment. As a result, the sensor fits perfectly into the architecture of the customer's refrigeration system, ensuring ease of integration and full compatibility with existing components.

This approach allowed us to provide a solution that is not only technically advanced, but also fully customized to the client's needs, which translated into greater reliability and efficiency of the entire system.

How can the risk of failure in refrigeration systems be minimized through better pressure control? Customer benefits

The implementation of the JUMO MIDAS H20 HP pressure transmitter has brought the customer tangible benefits. From a technical point of view, stable measurements were ensured over a wide temperature range (-40°C to +125°C) and increased equipment durability thanks to vibration damping and protection against pressure surges. This translated into greater reliability of the refrigeration system, which is crucial for precise laboratory processes.

In business terms, the customer benefited from lower maintenance and repair costs, improved energy efficiency and greater user satisfaction thanks to stable equipment operating conditions. The project confirmed that JUMO provides customized solutions, ensuring both reliability and real savings.
